about a festival "Forbidden
Fruits of Civil Society"
(site of a festival - in progress)
nonofficial info:
The idea behind the Forbidden Fruit festival is
to connect different cultures and several disciplines in art (artists,
performers and musicians). In this week there is the possibility
for participants to perform theater or music on stage. For the artists
there is the possibility to have an exhibition of their works and/or
to make new artworks or installations during this week.
Also one of our aims is that several disciplines mix during the
week to create a show/performance/exhibition for the last day of
the festival.
We are a non-profit organisation, nobody get paid
for their work. Our idea is that we want to exchange more than money
when we travel around. The purpose of this Festival is for everybody
to get the opportunity to present him/her-selve and to find a new
connection in working, in meeting and in creating.
We offer for free a place to stay, to sleep, to
work, and two meals a day.

What what we do
We are organizing an exchange-festival called Forbidden
Fruits of Civil Society. Participants wil be offered the possibility
to presens their social and cultural activities.
The duration of the festival is about 8 days with:
Art and photo exibitions, concerts, performances
a variety of films and video-art and artist working on location.
The festival wil take place at least once a year.
***
Aim of the project:
Introducing socially involved artists, individuals
and groups to eachother, creating the possibility to get in touch
with different cultures to stimulate a wider understanding. We also
support projects that strive after the above aims, as wel as projects
that work on a social broadening, in and outside of the Netherlands.
***
Interest of the project:
Bringing people together to get to know eachother
and find ways to interact. Contact between them and participants
from western countries will create an opportunity to a better understanding
of eachothers situation and position. By means of co-operating between
several nationalities in different disciplines an easier accesible
way of communication may arise, resulting in new contacts for future
visits and ongoing co-operation.
